Learn about Leslie's Experience in Workplace Safety, HCS 3000

Jacob Fraser and Leslie, Vulcan

Jacob Fraser and Leslie, Vulcan

Meet red hatted and smiling Leslie with his teacher Mr. Fraser, in Vulcan. Leslie recently completed our Workplace Safety course, HCS 3000. This is a mandatory course in Alberta K-12 for students who wish to start earning credits off campus, especially in Work Experience.

There is a whole team and "village" to support Leslie and other students across Palliser who need to take this course immediately so they can start work experience immediately.

*Mr. Fraser - teacher at Palliser Beyond Borders in Vulcan where Leslie studies

*Mrs. Foster - our Off Campus Coordinator for the Vulcan area

*Mrs. Krammer - our Workplace Safety teacher, who taught Leslie the unit he had left to complete, in our live, interactive online learning classroom

Palliser Beyond Borders offers a continuous registration in some courses including Workplace Safety.
Students: take advantage now of our next offering on December 9 to get this done before the winter break so you can get work experience built into your schedule for semester 2 starting in February 2020.

Mrs. Krammer says of the experience:

"He and I met online and within 30 mins he was done. When I told him he was done, the look of shock and disbelief...along with the stuttering words...”really???” Were awesome to see ;)"

Leslie says:

Being able to talk to someone as I finished my courses really helped take a burden off of me, as well as helped me understand the material better. Stephanie did a great job explaining what I needed to know, and took care of any questions I had."

At Palliser Beyond Borders we have had 93 Palliser students complete this prerequisite course so far this semester by crash course delivery. They all qualify for work experience and RAP.
Our next crash course is Monday December 9 @12:30 - 2:30. Students must have working mic and speakers or headset and be prepared to log in to Blackboard 30 minutes early to ensure headsets are working.

Having the opportunity to learn at my own pace was something that really helped me and other students get through high school. Being an independent student and having access to all of my assignments was a big help. I found myself accomplishing things I never thought possible.
