The Alexander Rutherford Scholarship
The Alexander Rutherford Scholarship
Named in honour of Alexander Rutherford, Alberta’s first Premier and Minister of Education, this scholarship recognizes and rewards exceptional academic achievement at the senior high school level and for students planning to pursue full-time post secondary studies.
Any student who is an Alberta resident with an average of 75% or higher in five designated courses qualifies for an award. The scholarship has a maximum value of $2,500 and is based on scholastic achievement in Grades 10, 11 and 12. The Alexander Rutherford Scholarship can be applied to entrance at many post secondary institutions world-wide.
Apply by May 1st for post secondary studies starting in September. Apply by December 1st for post secondary studies staring in January.

Please note that if a student has earned credit for a course based on retroactive credits the mark on the Alberta transcript will be noted as a "pass." The grade in which the pass grade is earned is no longer eligible for the Rutherford scholarship.
