School Council

  • School Advisory Committee Information

Parents and Students: you are welcome to join us online for School Advisory Meeting.

Date: Meetings are monthly every second Tuesday at 5:30 - 6:30 pm.

Location: online meeting room (click here)

Requirements: a headset and microphone (please test your connection and your audio prior to the start of our meeting).

Agenda: this will be a School Advisory Meeting

We will spend some time sharing the key messages about Palliser Beyond Borders and teaching parents some important skills about navigating and finding information on our website. Students who are interested in earning a leadership credit are encouraged to join us.

  • Safe and Caring Learning Environment Policy 17

The board passed a new safe and caring policy this spring, in keeping with our obligations under the School Act and human rights legislation. Each board was required to submit their policy to Alberta Education for review. We have now received feedback from the department about our policy. That feedback is now being reviewed by Palliser’s legal counsel and we expect only minor changes to our policy will be required to comply with legislation and the department’s expectations. We will share the new policy with changes as soon as we can.

  • Professional Development for School Councils

Based on the feedback we received following our Gathering of School Councils in November 2015, we have been in contact with the Alberta School Councils’ Association (ASCA) to discuss options for 90-minute workshops they could provide us in three separate locations in Palliser (Lethbridge, Vulcan and Calgary).

Based on this survey, we may offer different workshops in different locations or the same workshop at all three sites on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2016. Please save this evening for our next gathering.

Please click here to tell us the topic most of interest to you.

I would never have made it this far without the support of the outreach community and everyone who has been a part of the community.

Travis, 12
