Program Highlights

Students will sample courses in the McPhail School of Energy through introductory courses in Petroleum, Electrical and Environmental Engineering Technology. Note this is a two semester program. (SAIT)

This Dual-Credit Program allows students to investigate which engineering program best suits their career interests. Students wanting to pursue a post-secondary education in Engineering or Engineer Technologies can use one or more of the course credits gained in this Dual-Credit Program to advance their education towards an Engineer Technologies Diploma Program with SAIT’s McPhail School of Energy. The University of Calgary Bachelor of Science in Energy Engineering is designed to provide Power Engineering Technology and Petroleum Engineering Technology graduates from SAIT with a seamless transition to a University of Calgary Engineering Degree Program. 

Successful graduates of the program will earn:

  • Potentially 16 high school CTS credits
  • 10.5 SAIT credits
  • Credit in seven SAIT courses:
    • Electrical Diagrams and
      AutoCad. Fundamentals of Petroleum Operations,
    • Petroleum
      Testing,
    • Workshop Practices,
    • Electrical and Controls,
      Biology and Field Ecology, and
    • Water and Wastewater Treatment.

Prerequisites

  • HCS3000
  • Math 10C
  • ELA 10-1
  • Be on track to complete:
    • Biology 30 (min. 60%)
    • Math 30-1 or 30-2 (min. 60%)
    • ELA 30-1 or 30-2 (min. 60%)

Class times:

  • 8:30-11:30am Monday – Thursday
  • Sept. 10, 2018 - June 6, 2019 (full year)

Cost:

  • Tuition covered through Palliser ($4,450 value)

Application for 

The environment in the Outreach has a way of building you up. There is always positivity lowing through the air with different students and teachers coming in. There was always new ways to learn things each day and other students' ideas helped make the Outreach a place where everyone feels comfortable and welcome.
