Assessment for Home Education Students

The Home Education Handbook provides this direction for assessment of home educated students.

  • Parent- directed assessment: It is important to regularly review the Schedule of Learning Outcomes to consider how your program addresses all of the outcomes and how you might incorporate all of the outcomes into your program. Update your specific plans following your reviews of outcomes and your assessment of your program needs.
  • The handbook has a sample rubric used to help with assessment and guide student progress to bump up their level of understanding and evidence of performance.
  • Palliser is expected to keep records of assessment by the home education facilitator.

Palliser’s DiscoverU Student Leadership Conference: Students found themselves, more often than not, free to explore the realm of self-directed learning. While the idea of students learning without formal direction may startle some, Alison’s approach works wonders for students looking to motivate themselves and get more out of each opportunity to learn.
