Fees - 2021-2022

  • What are Technology and Licensing fees for?

    We try very hard to keep our resources to open education resources that do not require third party providers and licensing. Our teachers provide the bulk of our course instructional materials, but in some cases we need to make use of licensed resources. Some of the items that fees are used for are Moodle hosting services and plug-ins for student tracking and completion, Blackboard licensing for live instruction, anti-plagiarism software, course content licensing, digital text books and ebooks, and online literacy and numeracy platforms.

    Fees for students enrolling for online courses at Palliser Beyond Borders are below, and depend upon factors including student’s age, residency, and whether the student is already attending another school in Palliser Regional Schools. Please read the descriptions below to identify your student category.

  • Palliser Beyond Borders Live Online (grades 1-9) students (registered prior to September 30)

    $250 per student

  • Palliser Beyond Borders high school students (registered prior to September 30)

    PLEASE NOTE* All Fees are to be paid online through school cash- a service fee is applied by the carrier*

    Fees include the course technology and digital licensing:

    • 1 credit course $20.00 ea
    • 3 credit course $45.00 ea
    • 5 credit course $75.00 ea
    • CALM Bundle(4cr)$60.00

    OR A Maximum fee $225.00 (3 - 5 credit courses same year)

    Refundable security deposit, $100 per course refunded upon return of the textbook within 30 days in the same condition.

    Late registration fee applied if not registered by deadline as posted - for all categories - trying to stream them into semester completions  $ 100.00

    Rewrites or challenges - pay 50% of applicable fee  $ 100.00

    Course Extension (granted only for exceptional circumstances with special consideration and approval) $100.00

    ART Supply fees  $ 30.00

    Postage - minimum postage at cost for shipping materials and textbook minimum  $ 25.00

  • Students currently attending a Palliser School Division high school

    Fees include the Course technology and digital licensing and are collected at the Palliser high school you are attending.

    PLEASE NOTE* All Fees are to be paid online through school cash- a service fee is applied by the carrier*

    Refundable textbook deposit, $100 per course refunded upon return of the textbook within 30 days in the same condition. 

    ART Supply fees  $ 30.00

    French (additional textbook licensing fee) $60.00

    WILDLIFE fee for license (paid directly to AHEIA prior to getting access to course material) $70.00

    Late registration fee applied if not registered by deadline as posted - for all categories - trying to stream them into semester completions  $ 100.00

  • An adult resident of Alberta (20 years of age or older on September 1 of the current school year)

    Adult Alberta students need permission from the Principal to attend and an individual education plan.

  • International students in Alberta on approved student visa

    These fees apply to international students who are studying in Canada on a current student visa:

    For online courses, the tuition fee includes course instructional supplies, material and technology fees.

    • 1 credit course for International student - non Palliser or Palliser after 35 credits  $ 392.70
    • 3 credit course for International student - non Palliser or Palliser after 35 credits  $ 1,178.10
    • 5 credit course for International student - non Palliser or Palliser after 35 credits  $ 1,963.50
    • Work experience for non AB resident, overage or international  $ 510.00
    • WILDLIFE fee for license and to do online through AHEIA  $ 71.40
    • ART Supply fees  $ 30.60

    Book deposit for book loan  $ 102.00

    Course challenge - 50% of applicable fee from outreach fees

    3 credit courses - course challenge  $ 22.95

About Vulcan Community Health Care Mentorship Program: Students were mentored by doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, health care aides, lab technicians as well as dental assistants and dentists. Throughout the Mentorship Program, students completed a culminating activity that explored the fields they are interested in and what they may need to get there. Each project is as unique as the ladies who created it. The entire experience began with the students exploring what they wanted to gain knowledge about. They created their driving questions. Why did they want this? What could they learn from their mentor? Their projects continually evolved as they dove deeper and their curiosity created new driving questions.
