Connecting the world with Palliser

At the core of Palliser Beyond Borders is the goal of helping all students achieve learning success and develop their unique potential as caring citizens in a changing world. As an online school we do this by providing access to online learning materials and instruction and developing a vibrant online learning community that supports academic success.

Our online learning opportunities support this by expanding learning choices to students attending Palliser Regional Schools, in other areas of the province, Canada, and internationally. Students can access their learning on a 24/7 basis, engaging online with their peers and teachers in real time, as well as asynchronously.  If they choose, students can complete an Alberta diploma fully online or supplement courses available at their current high school.   Palliser Beyond Borders provides flexible learning opportunities that are tailored to the individual student needs.

Palliser Beyond Borders offers continuous registration to students in grades 10-12 and adult students, providing access to courses available online through the Moodle Learning Management System, and Blackboard Collaborate Web Conferencing tool, and Google Education Apps.

Introduction

Our goal is to serve Palliser high schools who require additional credit courses not offered by your local school:

  • provide access to online learning materials and instruction to support high school students across the division
  • develop a vibrant online learning community for Palliser students which supports academic success

Our school was born on January 14, 2014 and we will continue to build our services over the remainder of the school year.

Our Beliefs: At Palliser Regional Schools we believe in learning success for all students as they develop their unique potential as caring citizens in a changing world. Our online initiative supports this mission by expanding learning choices and personalization for Palliser students and give students access to their learning on a 24/7 basis.

Our vision for Palliser's online school is a centre of online learning and teaching excellence. It will provide outstanding opportunities for Alberta students and will grow to serve ever larger communities across Canada and internationally. Students will engage online in their learning both asynchronously and synchronously with their peers and teachers and demonstrate a deep understanding of Alberta curriculum and global digital citizenship. Students, if they choose, can complete an Alberta diploma fully online.

Education Plan

Palliser Beyond Borders Three Year Annual Education Plan

I  appreciate the flexibility that the course provides because unlike other courses in which assignments must be completed in a concrete amount of time, you can learn this course during the time period that works best for your schedule.
